Trim videos

You can now trim the start and end positions of videos, to download only the exact portion of a video you need.

Resize videos

Choose from preset sizes or manually choose your own dimensions, to download videos in the specific size you need.

Here is everything we released in June 2023, including bug fixes and smaller tweaks that don't normally get promoted, for those power users out there!

New features

  • Guest upload - create a public upload link who can share to give anyone the ability to submit assets to your Dash for approval. Learn more here.
  • Filter by dimensions - choose from preset image sizes to filter your assets by.

Improvements

  • Choose your import location when adding assets from Google Drive or Dropbox.
  • Made 'crop' the default when creating a new preset size.
  • Added Shopify CMS support, allowing you to add assets directly from within blogs posts and pages.
  • Added support for .CR3 files.
  • Ability to create fields from the upload screen.
  • New suggested fields now shown during field creation.
  • Dash icon now shown when saving Dash as a home screen bookmark from Safari on iOS.
  • Support for higher volumes of collections.

Bug fixes

  • Assets weren't always being displayed in Canva.
  • Couldn't search for a field option that included a forward slash ("/").
  • Password visibility button in Safari forms was obscured by keychain icon.
  • Page buttons on Browse screen were overlapping the asset thumbnails.
  • Field ordering issues when adding suggested fields.
  • Prevented Safari auto-zooming to input fields on mobile.

By popular demand, we are pleased to launch Guest upload 🎉

You can now create a public upload link, allowing non-Dash users to upload assets directly to your Dash.

This is great for giving photographers, members of the public (for UGC), influencers and others an easy way to send you assets without the need to use emails, wetransfer etc!

Improvements

  • Primary billing contacts can now access the billing portal from Admin > Account.
  • Made upload button always visible on mobile.
  • Search files within Google Drive and Dropbox import.

Bug fixes

  • Incorrect feedback recipient shown on upload approval screen.
  • Slashes ("/") weren't importing correctly in CSV metadata imports.

New features

  • Non-admin approvers - non-admins can now be marked as approvers and will be alerted when specific users upload assets. Read more about upload approvals here.
  • Dropbox integration - import your Dropbox cloud-hosted assets directly into Dash. Read more here.

Improvements

  • Improved speed of checkboxes being applied in certain admin areas.
  • Subfolders are now shown on the homepage if the user only has access to a single parent folder.
  • Clicking a timestamp in a comment takes you to the relevant time on the video.
  • You can edit and delete your previous comments.

Bug fixes

  • Some PPTX assets weren't displaying correctly.
  • Copy button didn't work for the WordPress secret key field.
  • "Save to your Dash" button was placed poorly in share links when viewed on mobile screens.
  • Lost ability to create new folders from within an asset.
  • Number of downloads not correct for some accounts in the Admin > Account page.
  • Deleting an asset wouldn't always show the correct next asset.
  • Dash Shopify app would open a new tab unnecessarily.

New features

  • Commenting in approvals - admins and contributors can now use comments against assets to discuss submitted assets prior to them being approved. Read more here.
  • Google Drive integration - import your Google Drive cloud-hosted assets directly into Dash. Read more here.

Improvements

  • Contributors can view their submitted assets
  • Contributors can submit new versions of submitted assets
  • Added the following usage stats to the Admin > Accounts screen:
    - Total assets
    - Total downloads last month
    - Total downloads this month

Bug fixes

  • Assets with embedded rotation information would get squashed in Canva
  • Required on upload checkbox wouldn't apply until the next user session
  • Download previous versions wasn't working

Here is everything we released in January, including bug fixes and smaller tweaks that don't normally get promoted, for those power users out there!

New features

  • Shopify integration - Browse and search your Dash assets from within Shopify and insert images directly into your product pages. Read more here
  • View submitted assets - Contributors can now see (and update) assets they've submitted that are awaiting approval. Read more here.
  • Rotate images - rotate images and save the new rotation as a new version

Improvements

  • Delete previous versions - you can now delete specific versions of an asset that has multiple versions

Bug fixes

  • Couldn't log in to the Wordpress plugin using a Microsoft SSO account.
  • Users would occasionally see a 400 error when moving folders in Admin > Folders.
  • Couldn't remove and add thumbnail fields if the thumbnail view was already full.

You can now browse your Dash assets from within Shopify, and add them to your products' images with a single click.

To enable the integration, just send us a message using the in-app chat and we'll send you an installation link.

Here is everything we released in December (and November), including bug fixes and smaller tweaks that don't normally get promoted, for those power users out there!

New features

  • Enter manual crop dimensions when downloading custom sizes
  • Download assets in WEBP format
  • Create, edit. move and delete folders from the Filters panel (admins only)!

Improvements

  • S3 imports now give additional information on the assets being imported and success rate
  • Can now search for single words (previously, assets with tags that contained that word alongside other words would also be returned)
  • Ability to exclude specific tags in the filters panel (holt option/alt and click the tag)
  • Can now search for 'stop words' individually (some words that are often used as part of a phrase and so were previously ignored)
  • Nicer generic thumbnails for unrecognised filetypes

Bug fixes

  • Date/time fields could not be added
  • Using arrow keys in the crop screen would browse to the next asset
  • Colons don't work in search (they do now!)
  • SVGs downloaded as PNGs would sometimes corrupt

Custom crop dimensions on download

You can now enter custom vertical and horizontal crop dimensions on download. Once set, you can drag the resulting crop area onto the desired portion of your image.

Or, lock the aspect ratio and you can resize the crop area proportionally, either by dragging it or entering one dimension.

Simply click Download > Custom download > crop to access the new controls.
